If you have seen any other Jason Statham film, then you have seen David Ayer’s latest project, The Beekeeper. The film is a by-the-numbers action movie that offers nothing new or interesting. It is full of tired clichés and uninspired action sequences. The plot is paper-thin and the characters are one-dimensional. The only thing that sets The Beekeeper apart from other action movies is its overabundance of bee metaphors and references. There are so many bee metaphors and references in the film that it becomes distracting. It is clear that the filmmakers were trying to be clever by using bees as a metaphor for something else, but it just comes across as forced and unnatural. Overall, The Beekeeper is a forgettable action movie that is not worth your time. If you are a fan of Jason Statham, you may want to give it a try, but I would not recommend it to anyone else.
