Captain America: Missed Opportunity
Captain America: Brave New World felt more like Captain America: Missed Opportunity. It wasn’t the worst Marvel movie or even the second worst. However, it wasn’t among the best either. There was a lot of possibility for this film to be great. The embers were there but the film never truly builds to a full flame.
It felt superficial almost with situations and storylines lacking exploration. To me, the choice of The Leader’s look was ill-advised. And his character altogether just felt one-dimensional. The Hulk should have absolutely been in this film. This was a direct sequel to 2008’s Incredible Hulk and it feels odd that he doesn’t make an appearance. I enjoyed Harrison Ford’s performance, especially his transformation into the Red Hulk. But the marketing did this film zero justice. Red Hulk should have been left out of the trailers entirely. The entire film was building up to that reveal, but, we already knew the when and how. The trailers really stole that moment from the audience.
All in all, I give it a 5 out of 10. Just a very mid film. An OK film that missed its opportunity to be great.
